Volunteer Opportunities

As volunteer opportunities arise, we’re always looking for friends to help out. Volunteers may assist with Reserve monitoring activities, participate in meetings and events, and serve on committees. Opportunities may include:

  • Acting as a docent in the estuarium

  • Filtering water samples used for nutrient and sediment analysis

  • Cleaning glassware and preparing chemical reagent

  • Entering data into Microsoft Excel

  • Reviewing Game Camera Footage (counting geese)

  • Cleaning and maintaining lab and field equipment

  • Wading, Canoeing, or cross country skiing to our weather station in Pokegama Bay

  • Collecting water samples via boat

Fill out the form below to receive updates when volunteer opportunities become available.

Serve on the Board of Directors

Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve is overseen by the board of directors who are elected by the membership.

New board members are voted onto the board during our annual membership meeting in February. Anyone interested in serving on the board may fill out the form below— make sure to include “Board Service” as your area of interest.  Members vote on perspective board members using a voice vote, and board members’ three year service begins the date of the meeting they are voted in.

Board meetings are held every other month and all board members also serve on FOLSR’s committees and project groups.

Meet our current Board Members.
