Everyone Can Bird: Graduation to Migration

  • Millennium Trail Superior, WI (map)

Join us for a free, bird-focused morning! This event is planned in partnership with the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, Minnesota Land Trust, Lake Superior Reserve, City of Superior, Wisconsin Sea Grant, Embark Supported Employment, and indiGO.

**UPDATE** As of Tuesday, August 13, Everyone Can Bird has had a location change to the new Woodstock Bay landing due to construction at Millennium Trail. There is a packed gravel trail alongside the edge, accessible bathroom, and shelter. This location is very close to Millennium Trail (about 1 mile down N 28th/Billings Drive), and we will have a sign and staff member at the Millennium Trail parking lot to point folks in the right direction. We look forward to seeing you there at 9:30 tomorrow, August 14! Free bus transportation is still provided from Superior Public Library, leaving for Woodstock Bay at 9:20am.

In August, baby birds begin to “graduate” into adulthood as they prepare for migration. Come join us for a celebration of this exciting adventure for the new adult birds!

We welcome people of all ages and ability levels to attend this accessible birding event at Millennium Trail in Superior. Move along the paved trail on a guided bird hike or explore bird activities at your own pace.

American Sign Language interpretation is provided. We have 15 pairs of binoculars for people to use, a spotting scope, a wheelchair mount for binoculars, and portable seating. A track chair – an all-terrain, electric-powered chair that can be used on hiking trails – along with a scooter and walkers will also be available, courtesy of indiGO.

Come and stay for the whole time or meet up with and leave the group when you need. Light refreshments will be available. There will also be a wheelchair accessible portable bathroom on-site for this event.

Registration is encouraged but not required. Free bus transportation is provided from the Superior Public Library to Millenium Trail. Please register to reserve your spot on the bus. Follow this link to register.

This event is designed with access in mind, but if you would like to request additional accommodations, please email Luciana.Ranelli@Wisc.Edu or call Luciana at 715-399-4085 at least 10 days before the event.
