Add to over a century of nationwide community science by joining Superior's annual Christmas Bird Count!
Join experienced birders on December 27th to help document Superior's winter bird species! From the City of Superior, to Pokegama, to Parkland, we will be exploring and recording species in 176 square miles of our local land and reporting our findings to the National Audubon Society. This information contributes to 126 years of community science! Beginners welcome, and experts needed!
Each participant (or group if desired) will be assigned a location in Superior to count birds. Participants will receive their locations once registration closes a week prior to the Christmas Bird Count. Bird counters will have all day (sunrise-sunset) to count birds in their given area. The entire area does not have to be covered, but rather participants will track their distance and duration for bird counting. Resources will also be distributed to registered participants who wish to participate in the bird count.
Any questions can be directed to Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve Community Outreach Coordinator, Callie Grones, who is the compiler for the Superior Circle of the Christmas Bird Count (email: outreach@folsr.org).
