The Everyone Can Bird (ECB) series returns in 2026 for three amazing events, all with opportunities to spot St. Louis River estuary birds. The ECB series is planned with accessibility in mind, for all ages, and takes place across several locations in Superior, WI and Duluth, MN.
Accessibility features include:
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation
binoculars and spotting scopes (including a wheelchair mount for binoculars) for public use
an all-terrain track chair
portable outdoor seating
wheelchair accessible portable restrooms
both seated and moving activities
free bus transportation to and from the events from locations in Superior and Duluth
Event locations and times of year also provide attendees with opportunities to see different types of birds in several habitats. Here are the details for each event.
Sunday, May 3 - Chambers Grove Park (Duluth, MN)
The series kicks off at Chambers Grove in Duluth. For several years, American White Pelicans have stopped here for a few weeks of spring during their migration north to Canada. Attendees will be able to see birds along the river as well as some early migrators in the forests. This event takes place in the middle of the spring migration.

Friday, July 24 - Barker’s Island (Superior, WI)
The second event of the series returns to Superior, WI at Barker’s Island. Attendees can expect to see more birds along the water and along paved trails and a boardwalk. Young birds will be growing up in the summertime and preparing to make their first migration.
Saturday, October 10 - Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory (Duluth, MN), World Migratory Bird Day
The last event wraps up at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory in Duluth. To celebrate World Migratory Bird Day, attendees can learn about the fall migration and hopefully spot some beautiful raptors as they fly over the ridge (depending on weather and wind direction). Hawk Ridge provides attendees with the opportunity to see birds along forested trails and soaring over Lake Superior.
