A Fall Migration Celebration

Participants gather for the beginning of the Everyone Can Bird event.

Despite the overcast sky and mild rain, the final event of the Everyone Can Bird series was a resounding success. Forty-six people enjoyed the fall views at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, spotting the few birds that braved the light rain and wind. Black-capped Chickadees, Canada Geese, and American Robins were among the most popular birds spotted. A Bald Eagle and Red-tailed Hawk made welcome appearances as well.

Everyone Can Bird events are structured with accessibility in mind. A shuttle bus picked up participants from both the Superior Public Library and Lakeview Covenant Church in Duluth. ASL interpreters provided sign language translation, and a track chair was on site from Duluth Parks and Recreation.

During the morning, Hawk Ridge staff and volunteers coordinated educational events. Some of our local expert birders shared their knowledge with those wanting to learn more. The Everyone Can Bird series will continue in 2025, so stay tuned for more birding fun! Everyone Can Bird is a partnership between Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve, Duluth Parks and Recreation, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, Wisconsin Sea Grant, Embark Supported Employment, Minnesota Land Trust, and the Lake Superior Reserve.
